SEA ANEMONE UNDER MANTEL

For many years, I channeled my creativity into designs painted for printed fabrics and wallpaper. So it’s not surprising that I had to capture this image: It looks for all the world to be a beautiful length of pleated silk, emblazoned with embroidered rose buds. It is actually the fleshy underside of a sea anemone underwater, but that does not detract from the illusion one bit. In fact, the charade only heightens my enjoyment of the image—and, I hope, yours too.
